Phases Introduction

Learn more about Vectice Phases and its features.

What are Phases in Vectice?

Phases are project milestones or objectives used to organize projects and initiatives, enforce best practices, enable consistency, and capture knowledge.

Each phase can contain a phase owner, documentation, iterations, steps, reviews, and the ability to capture datasets, models, and code during iterations.

Phases can reflect the real-life phases of the Data Science project lifecycle, for example, Business Understanding, Data Preparation, Modeling, Evaluation, and Deployment.

Phase Features

FeatureDescription

Documentation

Document the phase's objectives, assets, and outcomes to showcase the results of data science initiatives to stakeholders.

View iterations

View all iterative work completed and in progress for each phase. You can track and manage iterations once they appear in the Vectice UI.

Define phase steps

Use the steps feature to define the sequence of steps and expected outcomes needed to complete the project's phase and guide your team toward success.

Request and recieve reviews

Gain insight into phase progress and data science initiatives, share phase outcomes, and receive feedback from stakeholders and subject-matter experts on your initiatives.

Duplicate phases

Duplicating a Phase creates a new Phase within the project while preserving all of the Phase's Documentation and Steps. Iterations and reviews are not copied to the new Phase.

Phases Best Practices

  • When defining the phases and steps, keep the names short and concise to improve the user experience for Data Scientists using the API.

  • Update the phase status as work progresses to increase visibility into whether the phase is Not Started, In Progress, or Completed.

  • Ensure each phase has a Phase owner. The phase owner is responsible for requesting phase reviews.
